Ugh... that quote is so true... You asked about how to get the smell out of thrifted goods... I don't know why this seems to help but freezing an item seems to get rid of a lot of stink. On bitterly cold days, I will hang up that coat that smells like cigarettes and it is fine after a day... It may also just be that the pleather of your purse has a naturally funky smell, that happens with synthetics... Either way, good luck!
I started sewing in September 2007, and I have kept going on my own, slowly but surely ever since. I learn as I go, through trial and error, and even though I don't have a "high productivity", the satisfaction of a finished garment is worth all the time and patience spent making it...
