This is more of a winter season dress. I used a poly blend knit. I really like the heaviness of it. It's really comfortable and I have worn it quite a few times since I finished it, believe it or not it actually feels like a comfy sweater. I wore it to work a couple times and had lots of compliments about it.
Although I downsized it to a 36 when I traced it (the smallest pattern size was 38), I still had to make the usual fitting adjustment at the side seams, plus I tightened the end of the sleeves. I also left out the belt as I already had a store-bought one that I knew I could wear with. I learned how to make the double welt pockets thanks to my beloved Burda's "La Couture Pratique".
This is a close-up of the fabric and the pocket...Dark fabric, not the easiest thing to photograph !
The bottom part of my finished dress doesn't actually fall straight, but I like how it's a bit more sideways. I am not sure exactly how it happened, it's probably related to the fit adjustment I made, and where I positioned the zipper, but I don't mind it. It gives it more of an A shape. I also added two snap-on buttons, one above the zipper and one on the inside, in place of the original tie string. I hand-sewed those, making sure it was invisible from the outside.
I also hand-sewed the inside seam of the whole collar all the way down to the hem, as well as the hem itself, as it needed to be invisible from the outside.
I'm really happy with how this dress turned out.

The collar can be worn up or down...
