Looking for the perfect fit

With my Simplicity jacket still being stuck between muslin #2 and muslin #3, I went to the library and got all the fitting/sewing books I could get my hands on, desperately hoping that in one of them I would find the magic formula to solve my all fittings issues in one snap of the finger...

I was also hoping the magic formula would come to me without having to spend the time I already don't have reading all of these one by one... Maybe if I stare at this photo long enough I will have a "light-bulb" moment...

  1. I have checked out many books in my school library, and the best one was Fitting and Pattern Alteration. It is a bit costly, but it is worth every penny. Check it out on Amazon, the authors are Liechty, Rasband and Pottberg-Steineckert. Make sure you get the latest edition - there are quite valuable changes. I commented non your earlier post with some tips on grianlines, those are really helpful. If you happen to have Claire Shaeffer patterns, she gives very precise directions on where to mark them.

    Good luck,

  2. Hey - thanks for your comment. I've been following younghouselove.com - they're so inspiring!

Anyway, I have Fast Fit and Fit for Real People, and found the latter to be a better book, but Fast Fit is more organized. I used FFRP to make my dress sloper. Good luck with the jacket fitting, can't wait to see how it turns out!
